Report: Britney Spears’ Conservatorship Could End This Year
For more than 10 years, Britney Spears has lived under the guidance of a personal conservatorship, but that could all change.
Britney was placed under the legal restraint following several years of unpredictable and bizarre behavior that lead her down a path towards self-destruction. Dad Jamie is in charge of the pop star's personal conservatorship. That means Britney must seek permission before making legal decisions that deals with her and her children. A new report from UsMagazine.com suggests that could change in the near future. They report Mr. Spears is looking into ending the court-approved order. This is very liberating news for Queen B!
The conservatorship has remained a touchy subject amongst the Britney Army for many years. Some fans argued that if the singer could tour, create albums and give interviews, she demonstrated how to think for herself and thus not needing a conservatorship. Others argued that if it wasn't for her family stepping in and placing the legal order upon her, the singer's story could have been cut short.
Likely not much will change with Britney once it's lifted – she's consistently lived a healthy and stable life for many years now with the conservatorship in place – but I imagine she will experience a greater peace of mind knowing there isn't legal stipulations placed on her. Very good news!
