Eight-Year Anniversary Of Britney's "Gimme More" Music Video

We wanted moar, and she gave it to us.

Eight years ago today, Britney Spears unleashed the “Gimme More” music video on us. Director Jake Sarfaty was merely the vessel for Britney to channel concept and vision through, because the stripper pole and fishnets? All her idea.
Britney basked in a haze of blue and purple light while she and her girl friends dance around. There’s the badass sexual seductress Britney galavanting around in leather and lip gloss, and the blonde bombshell watching it all go down. It’s easily her most carefree visual from an era that we’re not fond of in terms of her personal affairs, but it gave fans her most artistic catalogue of music yet. The video is a liberating message for Britney, who answered to handlers her entire life in many aspects of her personal and professional life. She called the shots, and that rawness is why it might remain one of her most iconic videos to date. Both of them (a director’s cut leaked years later).
Get in her way? She’ll trample over you in six-inch stilettos while circling the pole. Join her? Buckle up.
